Mission: Shape Hunt — Level 2
Akuuu is walking home from school. She looks around and notices something surprising:
👉 The stop sign is the same shape as her notebook. The clock is the same shape as a pizza. The door is the same shape as a book!
How can such different things share the same shape?
Think: What do a stop sign and a notebook have in common? Can you see the shape without the color or size?
✏️ Draw one shape you see every day:
- 🔺 A triangle has 3 straight sides and 3 corners
- ⬜ A square has 4 equal sides and 4 corners
- 🔵 A circle has no sides and no corners — it curves all around
🛑 (Stop sign shape — octagon)
Akuuu draws a square on paper. Then she draws the same square very big on the ground with chalk.
👉 Are both shapes still squares? What makes them the same even when the size changes?
👉 Draw a small triangle and a big triangle. What do they share?
Look at these objects:
🍕 Pizza 🕰️ Clock 🚗 Wheel 🍪 Cookie
👉 What shape do they all share? Name two more things with that shape.
A child groups these shapes together: 🎲 Dice, 📺 TV, 🪟 Window, 🍕 Pizza
👉 Which one does not belong? How do you know?
🧠 Part A — Transfer
Akuuu visits a farm. She sees a fence, a barn door, and a horse’s water bucket.
👉 Can you find a rectangle, a square, and a circle at the farm? Draw or name them.
Think: Look past the color and size. What is the outline shape?
🧠 Part B — Thinking Pause
- I looked carefully at the shapes
- I counted the sides and corners
- I found shapes in new places
